Fall of the Phantom: ‘Sacred Games’ producer Phantom Films dissolved
Phantom Films, the film production joint-venture by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena, and Vikas Bahl, is coming to an end.
Phantom Films was established in 2011 and has given us films like Lootera, Queen, NH10, Bombay Velvet, Udta Punjab, Raman Raghav 2.0, among many others, as well as two of the brilliant web series, namely Sacred Games and Ghoul.
Recently, a former crew member who has worked with Vikas Bahl came out publicly with allegations of sexual harassment against him. Although she confided it to the other partners at Phantom, no action was taken and Vikas remained in his position with impunity.
More and more women have come out with stories of harassment and assault by the popular faces of the industry and it is finally being taken with seriousness. Recently, actress Tanushree Dutta came out with allegations against Nana Patekar, and multiple women have also spoken up about comedian Utsav Chakroborty’s behaviour.
Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane have publicly released statements against Vikas Bahl, apologizing. Even Amazon Prime has distanced itself from Vikas, who was supposed to work on a project with Amazon Prime.
Here are the statements by Kashyap and Motwane:
