A Proud Moment for India: Netflix’s Lust Stories & Sacred Games At The 47th International Emmy Awards
Paving its way into the Indian market with Original content, Netflix makes that presence known internationally as it attends the 47th International Emmy Awards for being nominated for Sacred Games & Lust Stories.
The best shows and films from India are making a significant impact on the global stage at the 47th International Emmy Awards by way of Netflix, which has continued to expand its slate of Indian licensed and original content. The Indian Netflix originals that secured International Emmy Awards nominations include the heartwarming Lust Stories and gritty Sacred Games, which fuelled fandom and inspired thousands of memes.
Lust Stories and Sacred Games received immense love, appreciation, and recognition from audiences and critics across the globe. Lust Stories, an anthology film produced by Ronnie Screwvala (RSVP) and Ashi Dua (Flying Unicorn), was acknowledged for its sensitive, relatable and engaging storyline by reviewers and media. The film brought together four directors – Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap – with distinct cinematic voices who were applauded for showing unique perspectives on the themes of modern love and lust. The four directors will come together next in Netflix’s Ghost Stories, a film also produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua.
Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap’s dark and gritty thriller Sacred Games (Season 1) won hearts across India with its layered characters, inventive and edgy storyline, and memorable performances. The debut season, which went on to become an audience favourite and drove conversations in India and around the world, was followed by a hugely successful second season that became Netflix’s most-watched show in India.
