Meet Mothers of All Types With ALTBalaji’s Mentalhood

ALTBalaji seems to have a truckload of interesting content out for streaming this year. After releasing Baarish and Bekaaboo, and announcing digital debuts of various actors with shows such as Baap: Boss of Special Services, Boo: Sabki Phategi, and Medically Yours, it has announced another series, titled Mentalhood, an interesting take on motherhood.

Directed by Karishma Kohli, Mentalhood will focus on various mothers and the herculean tasks of raising kids. It is no easy job, being a mother and a woman, and balancing both. The series will focus on these rollercoaster rides, one mother at a time.

The first in the list is Shruti Seth, playing Disha, a single mother and Yoga trainer. Talking about her role, Shruti said in a statement, “I haven’t really taken any real-life inspiration for my character but the biggest common factor is I am a yoga practitioner in real life as well.  I’m the one who believes in naturopathy and things like that but I’m an equal believer in the merits of allopathic medicines. I don’t think I’m a cuckoo mother the way Diksha is on some days, but I am quite free-spirited and happy and easy going just like my reel self. She is a joyful fun mother and I think that is quite like I’m in real life as well.

Apart from Shruti, the series will star the stunning Karishma Kapoor, Dino Morea, Sameer Malhotra and Sandhya Mridul, among others.

Mentalhood will stream on ALTBalaji in the fall this year, somewhere between September to December.
