Vishesh Bhatt to Adapt R. K. Laxman’s Novel ‘Servants of India’ into a Web Series
Vishesh Bhatt, son of Mukesh Bhatt, who is known for working on films like Jannat and Murder 3, is set to make a web series based on the legendary cartoonist R. K. Laxman’s novel, Servants of India.
The book, Servants of India, published in 2002, follows ten hilarious peculiar characters from the deeper sections of the middle-class Indian society. The characters belong to various domestic occupations such as cook, driver, maid, servant, among others.
The web series will not be a simple book-to-screen adaptation, but will also contain some contemporary and quirky twists. The series will be a satire on the casual class prejudices that exist all over India, with the addition of absurd situations that occur in or around our lives. Some unpublished material related to the book will also be a part of the web series adaptation.
Vishesh Bhatt and his team at Vishesh Films (The Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt-owned production house) have already acquired the rights to the late author’s book for the adaptation from The Laxman family-owned company RK IPR Management.
Details regarding the cast are yet to be announced.
