Population growth, till date, remains one of the biggest issues in India. Our country has taken various measures to control this epidemic, and ZEE5 is here to explore one such method introduced in the 70s, with a pinch of comedy, in their upcoming original film ‘Shukranu’.

Directed by the National Award-Winning director Bishnu Dev Halder, the film will be a throwback to the Emergency period in 1976, when the government had passed a sterilization program, under which men were forcibly taken for a vasectomy, in order to reinforce the family planning scheme of the government. The film will be a comical retelling of the situation, from protagonist Inder’s point of view, as he deals with the aftermath of this mandate in his personal life.

Starring Divyenndu Sharma, Shweta Basu Prasad and Sheetal Thakur in lead roles, Shukranu is produced by Reliance Entertainment. The film will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on 14th February.
