Gullak is story of all those memories that we have lived once; it takes us back to our childhood with Mishra family’s mundane life happenings, real life emotions, regular tussles and enjoying the little things in life. As the series progresses we are able to see different phases through which all the family go through, how every person in family  has a different perception but still comes to same page when it’s comes to FAMILY.

  • This series perfectly portrays the slice of life through a middle class Indian family and the beauty is that it’s not sugar coated with unbelievable reality but is decorated with little episodes of real life, struggle, happiness and hope.
  • The characters take us through this trail of serious moments with a smile on our faces, it’s amazing the way a family is portrayed where they all have their highs and lows but so subtly work their ways to hold it all together.
  • Every dialogue is framed in such a way, that it either touches your heart or tickles your funny bones.
  • Through every episode, the story tries to teach a lesson without even making it blatantly evident making it that much more amiable.
  • The one thing which grabs our attention is the title of the series ‘Gullak’ which gives a homely feeling from the start, aided by Shivankit Singh Parihar’s calm voice.
  • The title track of the series is another thing that is an absolute piece of brilliance. The visuals go hand in hand with the quirky and crooning lyrics.
  • Every actor has spectacularly molded with their character, but Harsh Mayar stands out as the kid of the family. Considering his psychopath character in ZEE5’s Abhay, Harsh quintessentially carries out the character of younger brother.

  • Apart from the regret we feel for watching it so late, there’s not a single kissa that is wrong in Gullak.

Bottom Line:

You might have been witnessing different sorts of family dramas but Gullak surely refreshes all those childhood memories and will trigger the emotional side of you. A MUST watch.

  • Amrit Raj Gupta has previously directed The Viral Fever’s (TVF) Bachelors, and Humaramovie’s Sirf Khuli Khidki.
  • Gullak is a TVF Original, marking the two OTT channels first collaboration.
