Synopsis: Humorously Yours delves into the life of a struggling stand-up comedian Vipul Goyal. The semi-fiction show takes us backstage and shows the drama behind a stand-up comedian’s life, albeit with a dash of coming of age, situational humor and the real-life incidents that transcend as humor on stage. The episodic journey into Goyal’s routine justifies the series’ tagline– “The drama behind the comedy”

  • The narrative is woven in real emotions and you feel for the character, yet can’t help but chuckle at the trouble he gets himself into
  • The use of intelligent comedy coupled with refreshing background music makes it a breezy delight to watch or even binge watch, without seeming too heavy on you
  • Dramatic instances or situations that have a high potential for hammy handling are skilfully avoided and are dealt with the frothy lightness of situational, slice of life humor. This prevents the show from looking staged.
  • The show is also infused with footage of Goyal’s real-life stand-up acts promising a constant inflow of laughter.
  • Vipul’s light-hearted banter with his wife Kavya is a realistic take on modern-day relationships and the refreshing pairing of the two leads to subtle yet crackling chemistry that keeps you hooked.
  • The sporadic appearances of popular stand-up comedians such as Zakir Khan, Tanmay Bhatt, Varun Thakur, and Sapan Verma, are a treat to watch and are perfectly subsumed in the storyline without sticking like a sore thumb

  • The production and sound arrangements could have been better- there are instances where the voices echo and crack and the camera handling is shabby
  • The sponsor brands are highlighted in every episode which, after a point, starts getting annoying, especially in the first episode.

This slice-of-life dramedy with keen insights into the not so funny world of stand-up comedy is a rejuvenating story and deserves a watch.

  • Goyal is also one of the writers of the show and has himself, said in an interview that 90 percent of the incidents in the show are real although they are exaggerated.
