The remake of the popular 90s show Zaban Sambhal Ke, this new series directed by Rajiv Mehra with the same name, came out on ALTBalaji, trying to recapture the essence of the old show. The 3-episode story revolves around Mohan Bharati, a Hindi professor at National Institute of Language (NIL), who is teaching the national language to a bunch of diverse pupils from all over the country as well across the world. It takes you on a journey filled with sexual innuendos, double entendre, and hilarious misunderstandings that occur due to the language barrier.

  • Sumeet Raghavan is commendable in his performance, playing the irritated yet dedicated teacher perfectly.
  • Rajiv Mehra has maintained the humor quotient in accordance with the previous series.

  • The culture characterization is cliched and stereotypical.
  • The jokes can get a little lame and bawdy at times.
  • The series finale is a little too abrupt, leaving behind a lot of loose ends.

Bottom Line:

If you are a fan of absurd, coarse humor and double entendre, Zaban Sambhal Ke is the show for you.

  • Rajiv Mehra is the only who directed the original 90s Zaban Sambhal Ke as well, starring Pankaj Kapur as Mohan Bharati
  • Sumeet Raghavan has worked in the evergreen comedy show Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai
